Christmas Dress

I just loved this picture when I saw it on Flickr, the present pockets were the cutest!  I then realized I NEEDED to make the girls Christmas outfits.  Something fun of course.

I went with this Blueprints tutorial and made a dress for Natalie.  I used the size 4 measurements and it fits really well!  I did add 3 rows of shirring around the chest because I neglected to account for an a line skirt when I cut for the dress.  Of course it needed pockets for bouncy balls and whatnot.  I sort of went with the same pocket as this one on MADE.  I just added a casing at the top to run elastic through then added the buttons.

The icing on the cake was that when I showed it to Natalie in the morning, she immediately put it on and wore it all day!

Now I’m on to make something for Emily.

Too bad it’s finally winter here today…

Oh yeah, if you’re running short on sewing time and like the dress, Sew en Love’s (the woman who made the dress on flickr) etsy shop is here, she has so many cute dresses for Christmas!

sometimes I miss my little girls – my daughters are 15 and 17, and do not appreciate handmade clothes anymore. And my 5 year old son would probably notice if I tried to put a dress on him…
