death of a project

I was really into making this bag, designed by clevergirl.  I even got the pattern printed out, material cut, and halfway through – then I realized I shouldn’t have used stretch denim pants.  No wonder I didn’t like them as pants, they stretched and didn’t stretch back to the normal shape.  I feel bad tossing it, but it’s really a loss.  I decided I’ll make the bag with another fabric (one that doesn’t involve stretch this time).  If you could see me right now – I’m pouting.  wah!

but hey – spring is here!

I’m soo sorry!! THat totally stinks! I get really frustrated when a project doesn’t work out…argh!

But, way to think positively…happy spring!

  2. Melissa says:

I am sorry your project got chucked, but your mistake is my non mistake. I almost made a bag out of some stretch denim myself, thanks for saving me the grief!

  3. Mary says:

Oh no – I hate it when that happens! It looks like such a cute bag pattern though – don’t give up! 🙂

  4. Jenny says:

Cheer up! Try again with another fabric, I’m sure it will be so cute!

  5. Care says:

At least you knew when to quit, and didn’t force your way through out of stubbornness! I have had more than one project I saw through to the end when I should have known better and chucked them near the beginning!

YAY for Spring!! My poor daffodils are covered with SNOW!! :o(

  6. Karin says:

Awww that’s blegh indeed when a project ends like that. Oh well, I am sure your next project will be fabulous!

  7. Sew It UP! says:

Bummer! But you are right, spring is here!

  8. Oh my gosh, I can totally feel your pain. I had that happen to a little girls dress I was designing recently – I went to try to change something and it took forever and still looked wrong – I hated to do it, but I finally decided to toss the project aside :-(.

On to bigger and better things and you’re right – Spring is here!!

I relate. Tried to make a ruffled flower yesterday. The fabric was too thick.
    It’s in the trash now.

  11. Amy says:

We’ve all been there! I laughed when I saw the title of your post.

  12. Sarah says:

Silly bag! Really, you’d think fabric would behave wouldn’t you?! There seems to be a bit of this going around at the moment. I made some trousers yesterday and although they turned out fine they won’t be worn for more than a few moments at a time. Children! I must admit the fabric is rather outrageous.

  13. Oh Anna … if you only knew the projects I’ve tossed, taken apart, unraveled, pulled apart, etc … you’d be feeling okay with your departed project. Lessons learned … right??

Here’s something to cheer you up … but you’ll have to visit my blog. Hope this brings a smile to your face today ~j.

This is how I feel about my coca-cola napkins and cords skirt project for my daughter (um, written out like that it sounds really dumb, but I promise it’s cute). I have decided get a new kind of cord and reconvene when it’s cold enough again to wear such a thing 🙂

  15. jess says:

hehe. It happens to the best of us, I guess! Unfortunately.

  16. Kari says:

Oh, I totally get it. Good for you chucking it when you did instead of torturing yourself. You deserve a good pout. 🙂
