little red riding hood

Hey there Little Red Riding Hood,
You sure are looking good.
You’re everything a big bad wolf could want.

Little Red Riding Hood
I don’t think little big girls should

Go walking in these spooky old woods alone. Owoooooooo!
My youngest daughter, Emily, had gotten a super cute fleece coat (from the Gap) for her first birthday.  When I came across McCall’s M5743 pattern, it was almost an exact match to the store bought coat.  So I needed to make a red version for my oldest.  I highly recommend this coat pattern.  It’s really easy with fleece because you don’t have to worry about finishing any of the edges.  It’s not lined, but it makes a great spring or even fall coat.  I’ll be making this again I’m sure.
Believe it or not this was my first time making button holes.  Yep, I confess.  But I used Until Wednesday Calls’ awesome button hole tutorial.  Worked like a charm.

It’s so cute as is your little big girl. Yep you’d better watch out Little Red Riding Hood, I hear that wolf is very hungry. I just love red coats and the pleats on that one are a lovely addition.

Thank you so much for the link to a button tutorial. I’m just about to get on the proper sewing band wagon (as opposed to just playing at it) and I needed someone to tell me about button holes. It’s funny what preoccupies my mind sometimes!
    Thanks again!
