spring top week entry

Noodlehead spring top week entry sewing

Here’s my first crack at a spring top.  The tutorial I used was actually for a dress, but I made a shirt obviously.  I just can’t wear a v-neck, so I opted to do a boatneck style instead.

I really like how it turned out.  The fabric (Kawaii Springtime Jacks Natural from fabricworm.com) is really soft and the shirring was fun to do!

Love the shirring-was it difficult? I think a v-neck would look adorable for you.

i love the fabric! I have yet to conquer shirring. I tried it, but it didn’t work, and I have yet to gather enough courage to try again. lol

    Very cute and springy.
So jealous of everyone being able to do shirring… my machine hates it. Either that or I just don’t know what I’m doing!

Thank You!! I’ve got some knit that I want to make into a top just like this (don’t worry–it won’t be finished in time for Spring Top Week) :). Thank you for showing me just what I want to do with it. Its been haunting me since I bouth the fabric two weeks ago. Now I know :)

I love that fabric. It looks so great.

I love this and it looks great on you. I used a Built by Wendy pattern to do a very similar top a few weeks ago and the boat neck was way to high and I got frustrated so it’s sitting in my UFO pile. This is giving me the kick in the butt I needed to go cut off the neck and use bias tape to finish it so I can wear it.

Hello, just made my way over here from Prudent Baby. How many rows of shirring did you do for your shirt? It looks like a nice amount! Your finished project looks great. :)
