Remember this embroidered drawing?
Well, it turned into this for Natalie's upcoming birthday! (Thanks again Two Green Monkeys for the embroidery.)
I just used scraps for the log cabin-ish top and gave my first try at an invisible zipper. Let me first say (and I know I'm not alone), that I will probably never do an envelope style back again! The invisible zip was so easy to install, and no need for a special invisible zipper foot either.
Katie, over at Sew Katie Did, has an awesome tutorial on how to do the installation. Her pillows are all fabulous by the way, so take a look around for sure.
I mostly like the fact that you don't waste any fabric like you do with an envelope closure, just make the two pieces the same size and you're set.
I did line the top with muslin again, I love that it feels more stable and usable that way. This will definitely not be the end to my pillow making. Now every fabric I see, I say to myself "that'll make such a cute pillow". I'd better watch myself!
oh, and Natalie, if you're reading this, get off my computer! :) love, mom
