okay, okay, I guess I do love it after all. I think it's the binding that really makes it. I'm on a mission to use up fabric (just so I can justify buying more), so this quilt made a slight dent in that way.
I just used one charm pack of City Weekend and cut some strips of the dark gray sashing into the same rectangular coins.
A new thing I tried with the quilt was serging the edges before finishing the binding, I HIGHLY recommend doing so if you have a serger, for me it just made it so nice!
And if you've read this far without getting bored, I have a new tutorial coming up on Thursday, so there you go!
{finished size is 38 x 47}

I LOVE it too!
ReplyDeleteIt turned out great! Lovely job as usual. :)
ReplyDeleteGreat quilt!
ReplyDeleteA piece to fall in love to! The colours are shining in their "black frames" :) The pattern works great and the quilting brings it out!
ReplyDeleteI love it! I love the quilting that runs along the stacked coins!
ReplyDeleteI think it's really cute, and I love the quilting pattern. What did you mean by serging before binding? I am so excited to learn a new trick.
ReplyDeleteGreat job on your quilt. Love it with the black.
ReplyDeleteoh my goodness. I love this!
ReplyDeleteI am so into the pop of color with the grey/black 'background' or framing lately.
I haven't really journied down quilt making yet but I do totally admire it!
great work.
I like the quilting that you did down the stack of coins!
ReplyDeletethis is great. i love the way you quilted it!!!!! i am going to try to file that away for some other future quilt.
ReplyDeleteI have a great charm pack and don't know what to do with it (quilt shop impulse buy) so I might be giving this a shot.
ReplyDeleteVery nice! I'm jealous. I really want to make a quilt, but I have no idea where to begin.
ReplyDeleteIt turned out really cute! I like it too.
ReplyDeleteI think this justifies more fabric! Love the idea about serging the edges b4 binding - think that justifies me buying a serger! Great job!
ReplyDeleteI love how modern the quilt looks! Great color choices and I love the quilting down the stacked coins. sang(at)gci(dot)net
ReplyDeleteI love this. The colors are just perfect and the quilting really accents the pattern. It looks so cuddly.
ReplyDeleteIt came out great! It was hard to tell what it would look like from the strips but now that it's all together I love it. I wouldnt have thought to choose those fabrics. I just finished my new baby's quilt this weekend as well. What a good idea to serger the edges, i wish i had a serger now.
ReplyDeleteI love the way it turned out! It looks great! I'm so jealous of you quilters!
ReplyDeleteI love the way you quilted it with the straight lines and the curvy lines! Very cute.
ReplyDeleteGreat quilt Anna! I LOVE the use of dark grey with bright colors in a quilt. I really like how you've quilted this too. Did you use your walking foot for the curved/twisted quilting, or a free motion foot? I've always wondered how people quilt their wavy lines!
ReplyDelete(P.S. - looking forward to the tutorial!)
what a precious quilt!! I love the colors and the curvy quilting along the coin stacks. Looking forward to your new tutorial. I am in the middle of making one of your gathered cluthes right now.
ReplyDeleteGreat Job! Love it but enjoyed thinking of the Wicked Witch stockings too :)
ReplyDeleteI love it!!!
ReplyDeleteI really like it. The back makes me think of a piano keyboard for some reason. Looks good.
ReplyDeleteI love the waving quilting vines running down the length of coins. Cool idea Anna!
ReplyDeleteNot bored, in love. I think this quilt is really stunning. The back makes it extra special.
ReplyDeleteWonderful quilt and I love the quilting. Coins are on my to-do list. Wow, you finished that fast!
ReplyDeleteI totally serge the edges of my quilts! It's awesome!!
ReplyDeleteSince I'm pretty self-taught, I've always been nervous posting about serging the edges because I was afraid it was so unprofessional. You just reassured me! :)
oh Anna! are you kidding?? I love this! Absolutely love it. Great work.
ReplyDeleteAnna, This turned out great! I really love the charcoal - sets off the fabric so well! And yes, the binding totally makes it!
ReplyDeleteI love it! Nice way to put a little dent in that stash :)
ReplyDeleteDo you quilt it with a walking foot?
ReplyDeleteVery cute! Great idea about the serger! I have a serger but haven't learned how to use it yet! lol
ReplyDeleteThis is gorgeous. I love the "surprise" on the back. What a clever idea. I'm petrified to try machine quilting. I tied mine. I need to work up the courage to try it.
ReplyDeleteIt's beautiful! I'm in the middle of a quilt using the same tutorial... I also love the wavy intersecting lines you quilted in the middle of each column!
ReplyDeletethat is GORGEOUS! i am having a baby boy in Nov & you just gave me the idea i needed to make him his quilt. seriously that is different but very chic & gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteThat turned out so great! I'm not brave enough yet to tackle the quilt... but I can't wait for another tutorial. I've been making gathered clutches out the wazoo!
ReplyDeleteBTW - do you have a Flickr pool for things made with your tutorials or patterns?
