kids clothes

red, red shirt

stay close to meeee

Just kidding. But I can’t get that song out of my head.

My first project for Kids Clothes Week Challenge going on over at Elsie Marley.

I had gotten the diamond mine voile a while back with intentions of making something for Natalie. She used to love the color red, and now she’s migrating towards pink, but only because all her friends at school love pink.

Turns out she loves it. And I love it.

I omitted the v-notch at the neckline and used a longer pattern piece than the blouse piece. I wanted it to be more of a tunic length, you know, to go with her new jeggings. I love to tease her about her jeggings.

  1. That voile is gorgeous! I love the pattern. I don’t ever wear red (or anything but brown, black, gray, or white for that matter), but that fabric is really tempting. The shirt looks so comfortable. Love the pics in the window, too.

  2. I love it! I totally need to try and Oliver + S pattern.

Wow, that is really nice and comfy looking too. She looks good in red. I have some of that print, but couldn’t decide whether it was too much print for a kid’s garment. Clearly it’s not. Thanks for the inspiration!

That’s great! I was wondering what pattern you’d used so was surprised when I saw it was the Ice Cream top, it looks completely different without that notch! I’ve been wanting to do the top up in all one fabric as the ones I’ve seen look wonderful, I like it better than the different coloured yoke I did on mine. I’ll definitely have to try it now in a voile except I’d have to do it in pink because Hazel is one of those girls at school who like pink 🙂
