It's full of sweet:

and funny:
(oh mom, I laughed so hard when I read the shopping cart one) not because I'm an offender, but because I'm always the shopping cart returner, even the ones waaaayyy out in the corner of the parking lot.

and useful:

and memorable pieces of advice:

What a fun gift this would be to pass along to any soon-to-be parent or parent.

Now for the fun part, wanna win a copy for yourself? I'm excited to be giving away a copy!

  3. Love the book, and would love it for my daughter in law who has just given me a beautiful grandson. Best advice (from the Uncle Eric books and what I've taught all three of my sons)..."Do all you have agreed to do, and Do not encroach on others or their property." Covers a lot, doesn't it?

  4. Very cool book! My Mom always said to me "Anything worth doing is worth doing well". I used to hate that when she'd say that to me, especially during my teenage years, but now, I know that it's something that I will be saying to my girls! =)

"Don't let your expectations for your children to succeed becomes a pressure to them. Let them have the freedom to do what they want, how they want it..But be there to guide them and be a friend when they need one".

  11. Using a round hairbrush is best left to the professionals. If you have curly hair like your mom don't use a round brush...it will get stuck in your hair and your sister will have to cut it out.
Thanks for sharing bits of the book...I love it.

What a fun book! My advice is "Eat Treats!" Life is just too short to always be watching your weight. Treats make life worth living. And lets be honest, they make you happy. Crabby people would be less crabby if they would just eat treats. kimberly-j@hotmail.com

  19. Leave Sunday free of work. So many of us aspire to, but so few actually do. It becomes an oasis of peace in your week and gives your life a healthy rhythm.

I've just started really working to do this and it has made a HUGE difference in how I view work, how I relax, and how I listen to God.

  20. I would love to win a copy of your book!! Right now I preach this to my 8 year old son on a DAILY basis "When you wake up ... pee, wash your hands and then brush your teeth. Same routine -- EVERYDAY!!".

  21. I would love a copy of "Prudent Advice". The recent advice I gave my teenage daughter was; "If someone always seems to have a problem with someone else, in most cases that someone is the problem". I explained to her that many people have to find faults in others to feel good about themselves. I find that this is true even with adults in the work place. Caron: caronc@playvisions.com

  22. What a lovely book!

    My advice:
“It all comes back to just letting go with love. Just put the love in it. Whatever it is, and if you can’t put love in it, don’t do it!” ~Bhagava Das, spiritual guru

  23. Treat others how you would like to be treated! When my oldest son is mean to his younger brother, then later he gets it back...I tell him it's because you treated him that way. "You get what you give" I tell him!

  24. What I have learned from my friends:
-don't close a window in a small room or car then say to the person you are sharing with that you just HAVE to take off your shoes (& SOCKS).
    -Laugh at yourself
-A smile will get you a long ways, even if you're not feelin' it.
-Tell your friends you love them (regularly) and hold hands
-If you splatter the mirror in the bathroom, wipe it off; just takes a second and makes a big difference

  34. My sister shared this with me and it is one piece of advice I live hard by and pass on as much as I can: If you really want someone to do something for you (flowers for your birthday, a hug when you are sad, etc.), tell that person. It isn't fair for you to feel hurt or frustrated with someone because they couldn't read your mind.

  55. Oh, I laughed out loud when I read "leggings are not pants." I work with a girl who wears them as pants several times a week, with her shirts just barely covering the top of her butt. So uncomfortable and inappropriate in an office setting.

I don't have a daughter, but I'm 31 weeks pregnant with our first son, and more than anything, I want him to be kind. So I guess the old "Treat others as you'd like to be treated" will be a big player! : )
