It's full of sweet:
(oh mom, I laughed so hard when I read the shopping cart one) not because I'm an offender, but because I'm always the shopping cart returner, even the ones waaaayyy out in the corner of the parking lot.and useful:
What a fun gift this would be to pass along to any soon-to-be parent or parent.

ReplyDeleteOne of the biggest pieces of advice I learned to be true is when you're expecting a new baby... People are full of advice, listen respectfully but TRUST YOUR INSTINCTS!!! Always speak up and never do anything you're uncomfortable with where your children are concerned. Whether is at your pediatricians or a stranger wanting to touch your 1 week old baby in public. Your gut seems to be in full drive when you're a new parent =)

ReplyDeleteI LOVE the sneak peaks I've read from this book! I would love a copy!

I think the one piece of advise I would share with my children is to never compromise. I was told that when I was in my teens and it has been the most valuable piece of advise. Would love to win this book!

ReplyDeleteI love this book and want to read the whole thing! My advice to my kids....Be rubber and let hurtful words bounce off of you.
ReplyDeletehlvognetz@yahoo.com
I think the best advice would be to treat others the way you would like to be treated. (the golden rule) Seems like in this world not everyone remembers this old and very important rule. :)
ReplyDeleteLove the book... Would LOVE to win.. but if not ... WHERE can I get it??

I have always told my cildren the great line from Bambi:"If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all". Great advice for all ages! spierssusan52@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteDon't think too hard about it... a good opportunity may pass you by.
ReplyDeleteI like this book!
ReplyDeleteMy advice to my [future] children would be: Love conquers all. Love is stronger than judgement. Never forget you are Loved.

What an adorable book! Learning with your mistakes is a good practice but if you can learn with other people mistakes you'll spare yourself a lot of heartache.
ReplyDeleteap_lemos at yahoo dot com
What a great book.
ReplyDeleteOne thing I recently was given advice about was to not let life pass you by. It's inevitably going to happen, but hold on to everything..
My grandma also told me to take pictures of everything.. even though they say that if you really like something that's happening you'll always remember.. is not true. Take pictures of the good memories, those are the only ones worth remembering.
Looks like a great book. i would love to win one.

ReplyDeleteOh this is soo good...I love love loooove quotes... so I thank you for the opportunity to win this...
ReplyDeleteSomething I always tell my boys is to always think first on what they are going to do or say...if they think it would hurt them..then don't do it because most likely it would hurt the person you were going to say it or do it to...
And as boys I always tell them to ask mom anything about girls...( she can tell you best cause she IS ONE hahaha )
Hugs and God Bless,
^A^ngel♥
Love the looks of this book! I'd like to see the rest of #82. :)
ReplyDeleteMy best advice: Always wear closed-toed shoes when you ride a bike.
My dad always told me this & 4 years ago when I was getting ready to go on a ride with my husband, I literally heard my dad's voice in my head as we started to leave & I was wearing flip flops. I listened, went back in the house & changed into tennis shoes. On our way back home, I hit a rock on the path, my foot went into the spokes of the bike, and I flipped over the handlebars. Had I not changed into tennis shoes, I would have lost toes, so I will never, EVER forget that advice!

Always do your best but make sure you're having fun--if it's too stressful sometimes first place isn't worth it. Or something like that :)

That's a lovely book, I'll make sure to get my hand on a copy if possible!
ReplyDeleteMy advices :
1. No matter what... do your best cause that's the most you can do!
2. If Mom gets on your nerves, don't worry too much it's in her job descriptions to do so, only means she loves you.
cestlav@live.ca
"If you mess up, clean up", but it pertains to when you make a mistake and feel badly about it, ie. hurt someone's feelings, make a bad decision etc. The jist is, that since you can't change what happened, now you can do your best to fix it or make ammends.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely book! I wish I could buy it here in Sweden! My adwise would be that it´s never too late to make up for bad decisions. If you make a bad one when you are young you van always make up for it later. I know! I took up my studies again and now I'm an engineer. (But it may cost you more ;) )
ReplyDeleteMy email is mariaolsson007_at_gmail.com
I would love a copy. My advice is 'you can always receive advice but you don't always have to heed it' :)
ReplyDeleteAlways treat others how you would like to be treated. Sometimes its hard especially when you encounter a horrible person...but it really is best.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to win this book. it looks great!
rachaelasmith@gmail.com
I would pass along the advice my parents gave to me as a child.
ReplyDeleteMy Mom always told us to "love the unlovely". And the famous advice from my Dad "When you do stupid things, stupid things happen".
I love this book! advice? Never judge a book by it's cover. I love this ~ I have friends today that I normally wouldn't have because of this advice! my Dad was a very wise man and he told me this often.
ReplyDeleteI love the quotes you posted. What a great gift this would make!
ReplyDeleteI love the one in the book, leggings are not pants...I have seen way to many people lately wearing leggings with a short shirt...um...gross.
ReplyDeleterenjenl21(at)gmail.com
Neat book!
ReplyDeleteEveryone should learn the difference between yield and merge.

That looks like a lovely book! I'm a stickler about my kids chewing with their mouths closed. Really...no one wants to watch you (or HEAR you) chew your food.
ReplyDeleteHey that is a cool book. One thing I will share with my kids is basic sewing and swimming I think both are essential.
ReplyDeleteI would LOVE to win that cute little book.
ReplyDeleteThe advice I want my kids to learn the most is to treat others how you would like to be treated. The Golden Rule is the most important to me.
Here is my advice:
ReplyDeleteAlways keep cookie dough on hand in the freezer so that you always have something to offer a surprise guest.
A good friendship can carry you through anything.
ReplyDeleteLove yourself. Practice the art of listening. Never buy uncomfortable shoes, no matter how cute they are - if they hurt you'll grow to hate them.

ReplyDeleteround things roll, glass breaks, hot things look like cold things.

Never date a man who drives a sports car...it worked for me:)
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely looking book - full of practical advice. An elderly lady said to me, just after giving birth to my first child, - Pick your battles, if what they are doing is only annoying, does not harm them or others then let them enjoy the moment they are learning their way... I've used this with each of my children
ReplyDeleteWell, she already has my trademark fashion advice, "Leggings are not pants." (Many girls appear to be confused on this topic!)
ReplyDeleteSo...I'll go with "Do something you love everyday." So many people get caught up in the things they have to do, they neglect to do the things that make them happy.
Wow, what a great book to own. advice..hmmm..always pack one more than you think you need in a diaper bag.
ReplyDeletefrances.paris@yahoo.com
What a fun book! I love this piece of advice from my mother-in-law, given to me with a smile when I'm having a tough day (she had five kids, too) "It's a great life if you don't weaken." :-)
ReplyDelete"Just go for it."
ReplyDeleteSuch a cool little book!
pink.karen(at)gmail.com
This book is fantastic!! I would love to have something like this to share with my daughter. So sweet. My advice would be 'you can't be all things to all people. Always try your best, but don't feel defeated if things don't work perfectly'
ReplyDeletemrscozzens (at) gmail (dot) com
I love when kids can just enjoy being kids - so relish the times you can be messy and dirty! There's always time to clean up later!
ReplyDeleteMy all time favorite quote - "We do not stop playing because we get old, we get old because we stop playing!"
melbergthorson@gmail.com
What a gorgeous book that looks.
ReplyDeleteMy advice would be: Forgive people. Even when it's not easy. And especially learn to forgive yourself.
annelawrence.ultraviolet@gmail.com
Always spit out your gum before sleeping. I have many happy memories of my dad getting out the gas can, since I wouldn't let him cut gum out of my hair!
ReplyDeleteI love this book!!!!
ReplyDeleteMy advice - don't worry about dating or finding a mate until you are in your mid 20's. Just have fun! Too much pressure to find the one. It will happen when it's time.

Such good advice!
ReplyDeletejbaileycassin (at) gmail (dot) com
What a fun book. I'm not a mother yet, but my one prudent bit of advice would be to hold doors open for people walking behind you. The effort it takes pales in comparison to the happiness it could bring :)

What a great book! Writing thank you notes is a great skill...it is a kind and thoughtful acknowledgment of someone else's kind and thoughtful time, money and effort toward you.
ReplyDeleteI'd love that book! Thanks for the opportunity for someone to have it! A good piece of advice given to me was: All the time, be just as kind as you can afford to be.
ReplyDeleteI would love to win! Great book. I need to learn to swim again. I have learned twice and I don't do it for awhile I forget how to.
ReplyDeleteNever get in debt. Ever. Live to your means.
ReplyDelete(Advice from a mum who wishes she'd done that!)
rhian_drinkwaterATyahooDOTcoDOTuk
One piece of advice that I was given a while back was...Never loan money to people. If you are willing to give a person money to use, then do not expect it back. Consider it a gift and your feelings will never be hurt if you aren't repaid.
ReplyDeleteThis has saved many hurt feelings and has sparred relationships that could have been damaged.
dlkindig@aol.com
What a lovely book. It seems to have some good advice. One piece of advice/rule we had growing up was that whoever cooked the dinner, wasn't responsible for the cleaning of the dishes at the end of the night. It's a nice way to thank someone who slaved over a hot stove for you. My husband is teaching our boys to do the same!
ReplyDeleteOh this book looks wonderful! Let's see, my advice would be to approach the world with curiosity and kindness.
ReplyDeletepdxfelix at hotmail dot com
Get along with your siblings!
ReplyDeletecrystal.bench@gmail.com
When it rains it's OK to jump in the puddles, collect worms & slide in the mud. You'll get messy & your mom might get frustrated, but you're making the memories that childhood should be made of. So go ahead & do it!

ReplyDeleteHow about:
Don't be rude. It's easy and simple. Everyone is someone's child. Treat them as such!!!
Looks like a fabulous book! If I don't win, I just might have to buy it :)
ReplyDeleteone piece of advice I will give my daughters:
Chivalry is not dead. It is a required act when choosing a man. If a man asks you to pay for your portion of the meal - gladly pay, and then do not go out on another date with that man!
You would be surprised at how many losers this simple act can weed out!
I will tell my daughter to always have a sense of humor. You will be much happier if you laugh than if you always take everything too seriously.
ReplyDeletejensp21[at]yahoo[dot]com
I am a very soon to be first time mom and this would be an amazing treat! some advice that has always helped me is this:

It's courteous, and you'll appreciate it when someone indicates in front of you. tiffanybirch {at} gmail.com

ReplyDeleteMy Mum told be 3 things when I moved away from home: Smile to strangers every day, it is no effort to you, but it really makes a difference. Thank your bus driver/shop keeper/mailman/... when you meet them - even though it is their job, you wont loose anything in showing that you appreciate their effort. And vote for every election concerning you - you can't blame the world if you don't make an effort.

ReplyDeleteThe one piece of advice I have always given my own children is to ALWAYS remember that your family should be treated well because friends will come and go but family will ALWAYS be there. ReplyDeleteThe piece of advice that I would like to give to expectant mothers (being an expectant mother myself), is to be honest with these soon to be mom's about pregnancy and childbirth. I think it may seem scary or discouraging, but it will better prepare them for any issue that may arise. They can look back and say "oh yeah, my friend told me this might happen and that's ok". And after giving said honesty, always remind them that it's totally worth it!

One peice of simple advice- Spend time outdoors!
ReplyDeleteMy grandmother-in-law gave me this advice early in my marriage: "When your husband asks you to do something with him [like go somewhere boring, etc.] don't say no too often or he'll stop asking." After 10 years together I think this was excellent advice seeing as how we still enjoy each others company. Plus, I have been on many boring trips, but so has he and we almost always at least get to eat somewhere that I don't I have to cook or cleanup. :)
ReplyDeleteThis is an amazing book...this is something my daughter MUST have...she's already very super sensitive and this book will help her through life's little troubles.
ReplyDeleteThe advice I not only give my daughter but to my family / friends and strangers is that tomorrow is never certain so live life as if there is no tomorrow.
Be the change you want to see in the rest of the world.
And Last but not least is the golden rule in my home:
Always make sure the last thing you say to the person you love is just that "I love you" weither you are hanging up the phone, going to the store, going out in the yard or just going to bed. This kind of ties in with the first piece of advice...

ReplyDeleteLet's see, to keep on the shopping cart subject:
Don't drag tired kids to the grocery store. It's not fun for them, you, or anyone else within earshot.
This looks like such a fun book!
ReplyDeleteMy advice came from my Dad, he said you need to be willing to take risks in order to live the life you dream of.

This book looks awesome! Not only because of the advice (which I could use myself as a young girl), but also because it looks so pretty, I love typography like that :)
ReplyDeleteThis book looks great. I have some people on my christmas shopping list who would love this as a gift!
ReplyDeleteMy advice: When you are married- only one of you can be a jerk at a time. When one is being a jerk, the other must compensate by being extra calm and lovely. Everybody needs to get to be a jerk sometimes and needs a safe place to do it.
If your parents tell you no, it means they love you!

Really love the book... I put it on my list!
ReplyDeleteHmmm.... if you're a perfectionist like me a good friend told me to make a mistake on purpose every day.... :) Soon you'll find that nothing horrible results and you'll be easier on yourself. :)

My advice would be this:
ReplyDeleteLive big. Do something you've never done, and love trying new things. You might be surprised!

If your kids have long hair, avoid clothing that closes with buttons up the back! rachelmp@iprimus.com.au
ReplyDeleteMy advice would be to always write thank you notes soon after receiving a gift. Thanks for the opportunity!

I actually gave this advice to my daughter:
ReplyDeleteIf, when you are all grown up, you meet someone, fall in love with him and want to marry him, but you don't like his parents... RUN! They will always be part of his life and friction between you and them will inevitably lead to friction between you and him.
(I know this to be true.)

Never underestimate the power of kindness. Both people benefit when kindness is shared. The book is lovely!
ReplyDeleteHere's one I always tell my students, "When faced with a problem, always start with what you know rather than what you don't know. Often enough the answer comes more quickly when you focus on the positive and work from your strength."
ReplyDeleteThanks for a chance to win such a great book!

Be true to who you are, life is full of self expression, and not always good impressions.
ReplyDeleteThis book would seem amazing to read!
Thanks for finding such a great book!

Love it! Here is my advice for brand new parents, "Always discuss before you go to sleep who will get up with the new baby in the middle of the night. 2:00 am is not the time to discuss who is getting up with your newborn."
ReplyDeleteMy e-mail is: tamihollidayelder@gmail.com
love your blog anna!
ReplyDeletemy best piece of prudent advice comes from a movie, but i cannot for the life of me remember which one! all i remember is the dad telling his kid, "take risks, but be accountable."

what a cute book! the quote i've loved lately is "let go or be dragged" - so true!
ReplyDeletebess :)
What a great book. My advice would be; after you get dressed and put all of your jewelry on, take one piece off. It's not original, someone said it but I can't remember who.

ReplyDeleteMy advice to my daughter: Always believe in yourself the way I have always believed in you.
Never, ever talk about money. Never ever let someone else decide your self worth for you and never, ever let people treat you badly. My kids have done well with these bits. kim.jameyson@gmail.com

Always be honest - lying will always come back to bite you in the butt.
ReplyDeletebethlane509@msn.com
Love one another, share your blessings, smile often, help those in need, and above all, thank God for everything - His blessings on you and your family, His mercy, and His abundant love for you.
ReplyDeleteOh I'd love this!
ReplyDeleteMy best piece of advice is to lower your expectations. You won't be disappointed that way. If you are sitting in the middle of a messy house in the same sweatpants you've had on for more days than you can remember, with a happy baby, call it a good day.

Choices are in everything we do - sometimes even the choice between "rock" and "hard place" can be a happy one, especially if you learn to like rocks!

Treat people with kindness. It's just that simple.

Always, read to your kids at night ,say good night ,and I love you. It may not seem important everynight, but when your mom is gone you will know it was important EVERYNIGHT.

My husband and I agree, although this is rather crass, but flatulence is the original funny joke. They are always funny. opitts@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteBe generous. Be kind. Live a compassionate life. Love animals, don't eat them.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to get my hands on this book!
ReplyDeleteMy Prudent Advice.....
Use cloth napkins whenever you can. Doing so injects a little civility to your day or can remind you of home when eating a meal away from the house.
So mine would have to be a quote I picked up somewhere: Life is short. Forgive quickly. Kiss slowly. Love truly. Laught Uncontrollably. And never regret anything that makes you smile!
ReplyDeleteThis book looks amazing!
Great book.
ReplyDeleteMy mother always said 'if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all'
