a quilt block

10.11.2010

Just a quick little pop in on this sunny Monday morning.

I was really excited to join in on the Ringo Pie Patchwork Bee.  There are some seriously talented creative ladies in there.  Needless to say, I'm just a teensy bit intimidated.

So after poking around the group for a while and trying to figure out what I'd like to make for the first round, I finally decided.  This month's theme was 'collections'.  Even though I'm not a collector of much (well, maybe just a collector of fabric), I still love looking at collections of things.

My idea started with a stack of nesting bowls.  And here's what I came up with:

The raspberries are appliqued and they're from a piece of fabric from my Grandma.  I'm happy to use it knowing that it will be appreciated.

Later!  I'm off to hunt down some fun craft stuff to do with my girls today.  :)

Nesting bowls are a great idea and it's the perfect opportunity to use the fabric from your grandmother.

oh gosh everyone, thanks so much for your super sweet comments. I don't think I'd be able to do a very informative tutorial on making this. I guess what I did was draw out my block, cut out the shapes, add in a seam allowance, and sew it all together and hope for the best! Worked this time around, but we'll see in the future.
