union jack block for erica

Just thought I’d stop in a quick share a block I made for last month’s Ringo Pie bee:
Like Kerry said, these blocks are deceivingly simple looking.  It was fun though, I got to try paper piecing.  I had only done paper piecing once with a string block via Film in the Fridge (just a bit simpler than the union jack, but a really good one to start with and get the hang of how it all works).
If you’re interesting in trying out this block a similar template and set of instructions is available here.
Glad you like it Erica
ps, if you’re a fan of vintage and quilts and overall goodness, I highly suggest reading both Erica’s and Kerry’s blogs, they’re wonderfully inspiring.
