madras dress for me

oh yeah baby, a beach dress for me!

I was totally going to make Heather Ross' Mendocino Sundress, but then I had to go ahead and change my mind.

It's basically the same pattern, but I made an elastic casing at the top and under the bust.  I love it.  And the pockets, oh my!  Silky soft voile for pockets is heavenly.
I'd definitely recommend this pattern for anyone, it's a great dress. Oh, and only used 2 yards of fabric, instead of the 2.5 that it calls for. Now off to the beach!

  12. Is the stitching on the inside of the pockets done by hand? I always wanted to use thick thread and giant stitches on my machine but didn't think it was possible.

  14. I Love Madras. ever since your Madras bag I have been looking and seeing it at the fabric store. I made two bags already. One of the bags is a little small version and the fabric was thrifted from a pillow sham. Love all of your tutorials!! thanks.

  16. Very cute! I tried the Mendocino dress for me, and couldn't get the pattern pieces the right size. I ended up doing something similar to yours, but with a casing and a tie at the bust instead of elastic. I don't wear it much bc i don't like how it fits, but maybe I can alter it a bit after seeing yours! :)
