Go Anywhere Bag Pattern!

8.26.2011

It's the Go Anywhere Bag because, well, it's that simple, I think you can go anywhere with it and look unique, stylish, and pretty darn cool.  This is the largest bag pattern I've made so far, not huge, but definitely roomy enough for whatever comes your way.

 [generous size back pocket]
[divided front pocket with optional piping detail]

The best part?  All the pockets.
  • Three roomy pockets on the front: great for sunglasses, keys, and your phone
  • one large pocket on the back
  • a slip pocket on the inside.

There is definitely a place for everything.  I've been loving the front because I keep my phone in one pocket, my sunglasses in the middle pocket and my keys in the other, no more fumbling around for the important stuff because it's right there.

In this pattern you'll find:
  • Step by step instructions with professional illustrations for making one Go Anywhere Bag
  • full size print-at-home pattern pieces
  • variations for magnetic snap, sew in snap, and velcro closures
  • instructions for optional interior slip pocket
By purchasing this pattern, I also give you (the purchaser of this pattern) the rights to sell finished Go Anywhere Bags made using this pattern (on a home based scale). Additional information regarding the license to sell is included in the pattern.

Materials needed:
  • 1/2 yard main bag body exterior (home dec or canvas)*
  • 1/2 yard pockets exterior
  • 1 yard main body lining and exterior pocket linings, interior slip pocket, and straps
  • Fat Quarter (18''x22'') interior slip pocket
  • magnetic snap (optional) - 14mm snap for back pocket, or velcro could be substituted
  • hidden sew in magnetic snap (optional) or 18mm magnetic snap
  • 2 yards fusible woven interfacing (Pellon SF101)
  • thread
  • water soluble pen
Finished Dimensions:
15.5" Wide
13.5" Tall
12.5" handle drop
total height 26"

  35. This pattern is so gorgeous! I've been looking at bag patterns for weeks now and never found a pattern I really liked. That is..until I found yours! I love it! Love the pockets, the two handles, the size, and the shape! I need the big pocket because I often have a water bottle, and the 3 pockets would be really helpful to hold keys and a mini notepad w/pen!

I am sooo gonna buy this pattern later on! Thanks so much, it's like..my cries for a bag pattern came true, lol! I love that you used home decor weight or canvas weight! I'm looking into some Heather Ross FFA linen blends :)

I'm gonna spy on the flickr page until I get my hands on this pattern, lol. Love the picture with you and your cousins, such pretties!
    Thanks again! <3

  40. I can't wait to try this pattern, Anna. It's a gorgeous bag. I especially like the fabric combination in the very first photo with the yellow trim... beautiful. Now to decide on fabric...

  41. okay Anna I'm sold! I want this bag. but I'm not sure I can pull it off. how hard is it really? I've never made a bag before and I'm terrified but this pattern is calling my name--should I make it myself (I specialize in straight stitch and that's about it) ...should I pay someone else to make it? or should I just turn on my heels and run away from the scary pattern?

  43. I have a question : what is the fabric you used for the front pocket of the first photo ? The grey fabric ? I'd like to find something similar to make my bag ! Thank you.

  44. I love this bag and I think it would be perfect for a certain need that I have - but I was wondering if you could give me the end dimensions of the bag? I have to fit a certain notebook into a cute bag (that i have yet to make) and I want to see if this pattern would work.
