Here’s my finished swoon.
This quilt was really special for me to make. I had gotten some Miscellany fabrics and kept thinking how much they reminded me of something my mom would love. Plus I’ve always wanted to make her a quilt (I’ve dumped enough bags and totes on her to stuff her closets).
I’m was crazy excited when I got it back from being quilted the other day. I could not sew the binding on fast enough, wrap it up, and dash it over to my mom and dad’s house to surprise her. I could barely keep my lips shut these past few weeks.
I love my mom, she’s my best friend. She’s been such a huge support for me. I’ve learned an amazing amount of things from her and I am so grateful for that.
[I had to include this shot of this Annie’s Farm Stand text fabric, you see, it’s perfect because my mom runs the local farmers market (in my hometown in Minnesota no less) – so the Minnesota Grown text had to be in the block!]
And because I was so excited and wanted to make a label, I quick did this one on my machine, haven’t ever used the letters function before, but it was pretty cool.
Quilted by the lovely Lindsay, owner of Eileen Quilts. Thank Lindsay, you’re amazing! Pieced by me, machine stitched binding. Wohoo!
It turned out fabulously! Mine’s being quilted right now, I hope it looks as great as yours.
i bet the outtake pictures were hilarious! i love the picture on very top where her feet are peaking out at the bottom and the quilt is wrapped around the tree. it is like she is hanging on! 😉 love the quilt anna, very very pretty. the quilting is great also. i love the BIG swirls.

It’s so beautiful. I LOVE that you used a darker fabric for the background. Somehow it totally changes the usual feel of the Swoon, which is totally cool! How awesome to have a mom that is your best friend. 🙂

P.S. If your machine is anything like mine, I believe you can snip those little threads between the words on your text because it locks in the stitches after each letter.

It’s really beautifull! And what a lovely young mother you’ve got. She can be really proud of her daughter!
