happy quilt

Noodlehead happy quilt uncategorized

I’ve had this stack of fabrics waiting to turn into quilts for my girls.  Most of the fabrics are by Prints Charming, Rainbow Garden collection,  with quite a bit of Lizzy House thrown in and a bunch of others.  The Prints Charming prints are on a so soft poplin base cloth, it’s just too dreamy.  I also used a few shot cottons for the patchwork as well as the binding.  Just some straight line quilting and we’re all set.

Emily had been asking me for a quilt for months, I think way before I started the swoon quilt for my mom.  I had only made Emily one quilt before and it was a baby size quilt.  Since the girls share their room, I think they’ll eventually need bunk beds (right now we’ve got one twin size bed and a toddler bed).  So even though this is a twin size quilt, she’ll just snuggle under it every night until we make the upgrade!

Since I planned to make coordinating quilts for the girls, I knew I had to personalize it somehow.  Improv pieced ‘Emily’ on the backing was the perfect choice.  She’ll always know it’s hers.  Plus I’ve been saving this text ikea print for a long time, it worked out perfect for the backing.

Yes, very happy! I almost bought that Ikea text print to use as a backing when I was in Charlotte, but I talked myself out of it cause it seemed thin. Wish I bought it now!

It’s beautiful, Anna. That red Lizzy House pearl bracelet is one of my favorite fabrics, and it goes so well with the other fabrics you chose for this quilt. Love it!

The front is beautiful and the back is cool. I like how the name is patch worked on, and that fabric that is just writing has given me an idea (but it’s a secret). Thanks for sharing and inspiring.

Oh, wow! This is so very lovely. Your choice of prints is just gorgeous, as is the text pattern on the back. You’ve made me want to drop everything (i.e. work!) and quilt all day long. :)

Gorgeous job Anna! I love the prints and the colors! it’s beautiful!

  42. sewtakeahike 04.14.2012 at 8:07 pm #

so cute, Anna! I love that backing fabric (bet you couldn’t have guess that?) I think I saw it at IKEA and liked it but didn’t know what I’d do with such a large print. That’s a great idea to back your quilt with it!

  43. Larissa 04.16.2012 at 9:17 pm #

It’s beautiful and I especially love the back with the pieced name. She’s going to enjoy that for years and it was smart to go ahead and make it twin sized. I recently moved my two into bunkbeds and while I HATE making them up, you can’t beat the space it frees up. And they don’t look too shabby with their cheerful duvet covers.

  44. Delia 04.18.2012 at 12:21 pm #

I love her name up the side! I want one! :) You are a great mom.
