wallet and pillow

After meeting up with Jeni and Megan a couple weeks ago at the Olive Juice midnight madness sewing, I came home with a few pieces cut for a cute wallet. I know, super productive, right?! ha.

I had scooped up Michelle’s patterns Zip Pocket Pouch on sale and couldn’t resist using some of my Suzy Ultman with some Sew Stitchy by Aneela Hoey.  I think they make the perfect pair.

I’ll be making more of these, no doubt.

On the flip side, I scored this lovely piece of roller skate fabric from Melody Miller herself after participating in the Ruby Star Wrap-Along.  I knew straight out of the mailbox that it would have to be a pillow.  Big pink and purple roller skates with silver accents = awesome pillow.

I forgot how much I missed making pillows.  They’re so awesome and quick and fun.  And of course I love putting in an invisible zipper.  I hadn’t done one for so long that it took me a bit to get back into that mode.  I even ruined a zip after shortening it, then trying to zip it closed I zipped the whole zipper pull off, duh!  Secretly happy that I have a semi-good sized stash of invisible zippers hanging around.

You guys busy sewing Christmas presents?  I’m getting sucked into that mode now, I have quite a few things I want to sew up.  I’m excited about that because normally I try not to get too wrapped up in making things for Christmas.

That is an adorable little wallet. I am going to check out that pattern, as I would rather carry something cute and little into a store instead of the huge diaper filled/full of kids cup bag I currently carry. Thank you for sharing a cute pattern!

  2. Yes, I’ve been sewing for Christmas too (in between the charity quilt). We have our house all decked out already. Yay for early Christmas time!

I love the wallet (long-time reader, non-commenter – sorry!). But as I was reading about the pillow, I couldn’t resist imagining an actual pom-pom embellishment at the toe of that roller skate with the pom-pom!

Ooohh… you need to go to Erin Erickson’s post from Tuesday to see how to put that zipper pull back on!

  8. Oh, wow! I love that pillow! Your wide mouth zippered pouch gave me the courage to do a zipper. Hmmm… With your tutorials, maybe I can do a hidden one, too? -Marci @ Stone Cottage Adventures

Cute wallet. I was waiting on that sale, waited so long that I missed it. My problem is that I am never sure about which patterns I have already stashed and which I need to buy.

love, love, love! I’m trying to stay motivated at finishing a quilt for the kids’ Christmas gift. Jeremy’s grandma Ann cross-stitched the alphabet onto 14″ squares and I’m finishing them off…it’ll be for the basement/classroom area. Every night as I tuck Amelia into bed with her favorite blanket (ni-ni she calls it), which is the quilt you made for her, I remind myself that I can make a beautiful quilt too. You continue to inspire my craftiness!!
