I've been trying (kind of hard, or maybe not) to use up my stash. This corduroy is so soft and warm. I think I had originally bought it to make something for the girls with, but now it's mine!
The dress came together pretty quickly. I think I might be able to go down a size next time though, or maybe it's just the dress/fabric combo that makes it look a little big. Anyway, I'm hoping to wear it a couple times this winter. I love the way it looks with a cowl and the tights. Or maybe I look like I belong on Little House on the Prairie (it's possible I've been channeling that look because we've been reading the books). Oh well!
Oh, and a little tip about the collar, use wonder tape (fusible tape) to hold the collar down before topstitching, it keeps everything in place so nicely, way better than pinning! (learned that from Figgy's wonderful patterns!)
Pattern: Tova Top by Wiksten
Hope you had a great weekend! ♥

Eeek, so pretty Anna! I bet it is so cozy and warm! :)
ReplyDeleteFantastic! Thanks for the tip on the wonder tape!! I've got one of these slated to make for myself as a birthday gift...so i will definitely be using your tip! :)

ReplyDeleteCute! It looks so comfy.
ReplyDeleteLove it! I made this dress, too, and thought it was a bit big. I went back and took in the sides after wearing it once. Now I like how mine fits much better. :)

ReplyDeleteVery cute and great idea! I have some lightweight corduroy that I might just use for the same pattern!

ReplyDeleteI'm trying hard to sew from the stash too...I think getting our credit card bill in the mail from Christmas greatly motivated me to do this! :-)
ReplyDeleteThis version of the tova looks fantastic! I love it in corduroy. It has such a nice fall/winter look!

ReplyDeleteIt looks great! But yeah, one size smaller should be ok too I guess.
ReplyDeleteIt looks so good! Totally warm and comfy!
ReplyDeleteIt's fabulous, it looks great on you!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! Wish I lived some where cool enough to wear corduroy! And you're cracking me up with your Little House on the Prairie reference - you're way more stylish than Laura Ingalls!
ReplyDeleteso cute and comfy. I love those tights.
ReplyDeleteAnna, you really are a cutout and gray color) And if highlight the waist, it will be elegant! And thanks for the tips! I'm just starting to learn to sew!
ReplyDeleteYou look great! Beautiful sewing, as always:)
ReplyDeleteI love this Anna! I've seen that pattern floating around, but this version might put me over the edge. Thanks!

ReplyDeleteThat looks lovely and warm, great idea!
ReplyDeleteI've just bought the Tova pattern - I'm going to have a go at the shirt first, but then I'll definitely be doing a corduroy dress! This looks gorgeous! Love the tights and cowl too!
ReplyDeleteYou're so cute! It really looks perfect with that scarf and tights and boots combo.
ReplyDeleteLove it!!
ReplyDeleteThat's a very nice dress! I like corduroy because it's easy to sew and makes a nice warm garment. You did a good job.
ReplyDeleteAdd it to the list of things I'm going to come steal out of your closet in the night! Looks fantastic. And that photo of you with the wind blowing your hair??! Couldn't be more perfect!!
ReplyDeleteLooks really nice! Maybe I'll be courageous enough to try to make one for myself!
ReplyDeleteI'm reading Little House on the Prarie to my kids right now! We finished Little House in the Big Woods just before Christmas :). I love the whole look you put together, you did a great job.
ReplyDeleteI just got my Tova pattern in the mail! Your dress.... All I can say is lucious! Grey cord has to be one of my favorite combos ever.
ReplyDeleteThis looks like one cozy Tova! I've just ordered the pattern and I'm hoping to use up some of my stash too on it!
ReplyDeleteGreat dress great combo with the leggings and cowl. Well done.
ReplyDeleteGreat job, Anna. Love the sweet taggie detail! As long as you're not channeling Ellie Olson, it's all good.
ReplyDeleteNicely done! And you're right - it looks adorable with the tights and cowl. Nice warm look for a cold winter day! I might have to try this pattern. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of the ribbon loop at the back! And thanks for the tip on sewing the collar.
ReplyDeleteIt looks great! I would love to try that pattern out for myself sometime this year. I love seeing it in corduroy.
ReplyDeleteLooks cosy as! And beautifully finished. What size did you make? I'd really like to go for a tova this coming winter in the southern hemisphere and not sure whether to go a small or medium. It looks like you probably could size down and still be comfortable...
ReplyDeleteit's lovely! i love the tip about the collar...will try that on my next one!
ReplyDeleteOh I love it. And it looks amazing on you! And I love dresses like that that have a little flow because it lets you pair it with a chunky belt up on your hip and it will look like a totally different outfit!
ReplyDeleteThis looks so comfy. And I saw something similar in corduroy on the Boden website. I'm sure yours didn't cost as much though! :)
ReplyDeleteGreat minds must think alike as I made a red one to wear for the holidays :) I love gray and yours looks wonderful!!
ReplyDeleteYou're clever! I love it!
ReplyDeleteLove it! I think Little House on the Prairie-chic is coming back. It was big in the '80s, too. Think brown lace-up boots. The dress is great. A little dressed up, but looks comfy.
ReplyDeleteIt looks so pretty on you, Anna! The little plaid ribbon is such a cute accent ;)
