corduroy tova dress

So I tried another Tova, remember the one I made over the summer?  The one from fabric that felt like dryer sheets?  Well, ever since I made it I knew I needed to make another out of some proper fabric.

I’ve been trying (kind of hard, or maybe not) to use up my stash.  This corduroy is so soft and warm.  I think I had originally bought it to make something for the girls with, but now it’s mine!

The dress came together pretty quickly.  I think I might be able to go down a size next time though, or maybe it’s just the dress/fabric combo that makes it look a little big.  Anyway, I’m hoping to wear it a couple times this winter.  I love the way it looks with a cowl and the tights.  Or maybe I look like I belong on Little House on the Prairie (it’s possible I’ve been channeling that look because we’ve been reading the books).  Oh well!

Oh, and a little tip about the collar, use wonder tape (fusible tape) to hold the collar down before topstitching, it keeps everything in place so nicely, way better than pinning! (learned that from Figgy’s wonderful patterns!)
