Sewing

Camp Stitchalot

I survived my first Camp Stitchalot  — a quarterly sewing retreat just outside Ann Arbor, MI, hosted by Pink Castle Fabrics.  And not only that, but it was super fun!  I was lucky enough to be able to teach my 241 Tote and the group of ladies was just so fun and sweet.

I traveled with Jeni from Wisconsin to Michigan.  We arrived at Camp and got to sewing!  Debbie (Esch House Quilts) started off the fun with her potholder and hot pad class.  The next day we made our 241 Totes.  Everyone did such an amazing job!  It’s so fun to see everyone working away and then bam! a finished bag.  Lots of the ladies made them for Christmas gifts for friends and family. Rachel made a Super Tote and she did so amazing!  I was thrilled to see her finish it! Later that day we got some great info from Jeni about color and values then started in on her mystery pillow pattern.

I would totally recommend going (or if you can’t travel that far, going to a sewing retreat near you).  It’s really great to talk sewing non-stop if you want and no one will make fun of you.  Jeni and I stayed up much too late laughing until we cried one night.  And we even got to see Kim and Anika’s (two really awesome campers) amazing knitting projects.

Rossie and Brenda were awesome.  Rossie gifted me a cute mini quilt!  Thank you again Rossie.  One other really great part about camp is that you just hang out the whole time, and the food was great, no cooking or dishes for 4 days is always a bonus in my book.

Do the potholder shuffle!

I’m trying to figure out a way I can sneak back to camp next November.  It was great!

  1. This looks like so much fun!! I wish I lived a bit closer. I will be on the lookout for camps like this near my house! Susan

  2. Love all the different fabrics used in the bags! I have one cut out right now on my sewing table for my daughter’s Christmas present. Just starting in on the scary zipper pockets! Wish me luck.

HI Anna! I love your post about stitchalot! Would you mind if I used your group pic on my blog post? I’m lacking a decent group pic of us all. 🙂
