Yarn Bowl and a Lovely Stack

yarnbowl2

A few weeks ago we took a family staycation and ended up at a local pottery painting place. We took forever to pick what we wanted to paint. I finally chose this yarn bowl that I spotted at the last minute! I’ve always wanted a yarn bowl, they’re always so pretty. Then came the challenge as to what to actually paint on this bowl, so I decided to keep it simple and neutral. We got to pick up our pieces last week after they had been fired. It was so fun to see what they looked like! Like unwrapping a little present (even though we knew what was inside). It’s amazing to see their transformation.

My friend Holly makes these really cool needle gauges and I’m ready to put it to work.

I’m excited to start knitting something after taking the summer inadvertently off, so now that it’s getting cooler here I’m getting the itch again. I was so close to finishing my first sweater when I ran out of matching yarn, still trying to decide what to do about that. Maybe a short-sleeved sweater? I dunno.

Lastly, the kind folks at Robert Kaufman sent me this super pretty stack of their new Kona colors! I never get stacks of fabric with so many choices like this, so it’s fun just to look at! I’ll use it though, promise. And if you’ve made it this far, I’m working on another free pattern for Robert Kaufman for one of their new lines debuting at Quilt Market. I know you’ll love it!

Oh, and I’ll pick the winner of the Gramercy Fabric bundle giveaway and share it in my next post! It was super fun times reading through what prints you liked and what you might make with Gramercy! It’s good stuff!

That yarn bowl is gorgeous! You should be very proud.

How short are you on yarn for your sweater? Sometimes if it’s just one skein, I’ve had luck looking through destashes on Ravelry for an extra little bit, and if the dye lots don’t match exactly you could try alternating skeins with the original yarn.
