Project Teen!

projectteen

Project Teen: Handmade Gifts Your Teen Will Love is a project-based book focused on the perfect items to make any teenager happy.

Isn’t it cool?! The concept is so perfect, right?! If you’re like me and love making and giving gifts, there’s this sort of black hole of the teenager years that makes you scratch your head and wonder what in the world they might think was an awesome gift. I haven’t had to conquer the teenage gifting much yet, but be sure in the not so distant future I will be! My friend Melissa (The Polka Dot Chair) did such a great job of doing some really thoughtful research about teenagers and gifts you can make that wouldn’t automatically be filed in the back of the closet along with that Christmas sweater they got when they were a toddler, you know, next to the dust bunnies.

heartpouch

I paged through the projects and really wish I would have had more time to actually make something! I’m totally trying to gather supplies for the ‘I Left My Heart in ___ Pouch’. Of course you already know I love pouches, but I couldn’t find any iron-on vinyl locally. Bummer.

pocketquilt

As I paged through the book, another super clever project was the pocket quilt, the Pocket-ful Quilt. I love Melissa’s solution to the age-old ‘I lost my remote in my blanket and can find it’ problem.

pillows

And T-Shirt Pillows! I thought they were super cute and clever, too. A great way to keep a well-loved shirt! They look amazing and cool at the same time. Lastly, I think it’s really important to point out that Melissa put a lot of effort into making things clear and easy for the reader. There are tons of great tips and easy to follow step by step instructions.

Okay, I’m off to find some iron-on vinyl!

And as a special treat, Melissa designed these super cute gift tags for handmade gifts. I kind of have a feeling that you love giving handmade gifts, so these pretty tags will come in handy for your gift wrapping. Download the free tags here!

Thanks Melissa!

I just got home from my guild meeting and had to laugh out loud. We had our annual silent auction. I took a roll of iron-on vinyl that has been sitting in my sewing room forever. It went for $1.00. Sorry I would of gladly sent it to you. I don’t even remember where I got it.
