Well, it’s March! That means it’s my turn for the Bag of the Month Club and to introduce you to my newest pattern: the Campfire Messenger Bag. If you’re not sure what the Bag of the Month Club is,Β you can pop over here and here and read all about it. So, this design was super fun to dream up. I agonized over different types of closures and hardware and I’m reallyΒ proud how this patternΒ turned out.
A few fun things aboutΒ the Campfire Messenger Bag:
- Feature your favorite print on the Flap
- Adjustable cross-body strap
- Zippered, pleated and slip pockets
- Optional top zipper closure
- Hardware flap closure for professional looking results
I’d also like to send a shout out to my pattern testers (I’ll be featuring their bags in a bit)! They did such a lovely job and gave me tons of great feedback and I think it made for such a better end product (as always). If you’re in the Bag of the Month club you should already have your pattern in hand. And if you’re not in Β the club you can always sign up here (and get the previous as well as upcoming patterns).
IfΒ you’re not in the club, this pattern will be releasing as a single PDF here on my website in July (I’ll be sure to let you know).
Fabric: Deco PrintΒ by Sarah WaterhouseΒ (flap fabric on blue bag), Yoyogi Park by Skinny Laminx for Cloud 9 Fabrics, and the reverse side of my favorite denim
I really want everyone to know that I appreciate your kind and thoughtful comments. I really love that we can lift each other up and reach such amazing heightsΒ – together. I’m excited to seeΒ YOURΒ creativity shine!
You are super talented, Anna. I always love your designs and this is no exception! Congratulations.
So excited about this bag! So stylish and useful. I saw that you were the bag of the month yesterday and I jumped for joy! Love your patterns and style so much and can’t wait to make one for myself.
That looks super nice! I love all the pockets. I have to replace my worn-out old messenger bag, this might be a good option!
Love this design. Who doesn’t love pockets?! I’ll be making it soon.
What a nice design! Do you know if it will fit an A4 folder?
Thank you Nina, I believe this is just a touch too small to fit an A4 maybe? Here are the approx. finished dimensions: 9 1/2β W, 11 1/2β H, 2 1/2β deep at base
This is a great bag. It has to hard coming up with unusual but useful bags – like re-inventing the wheel. You are very creative! Love your pool bag too.
Do you have a resource page? Where to get hardware/interface/fabric?
Ooooh! I think this is going to be the bag I take with me to France this summer! π
I absolutely LOVE this bag and the design. You did a wonderful job and you always pick the cutest fabric combinations!
I love this and can’t wait to make one! I was super excited to find it in my mailbox, it looks perfect for carrying my stuff to my Pathfinder game π I’m a little dimension-stupid though, will an iPad fit in it?
An iPad will definitely fit in this bag!
Lovely Anna, I always love your fabric choices. Really clean and contemporary. Thumbs up from me π
As often you are able to make me excited for your new pattern again. I like the look of the bags and you know how to combine fabrics and prints. Yay for a new noodlehead pattern!
Your design work is fabulous, I’ve made many bags using your patterns and they always come out great! Congratulations, keep up the good work!
Oh, I love the gray and yellow one! That’s a great size for my Samsung tablet, with room for a few personal items like a wallet and card case, along with a charger and cord! I can’t do the Bag of the Month club, so I’ll have to wait until you release the pattern. Drat.
It is an amazing design, congratulations, canΒ΄t wait to july.
You’re a MACHINE!! Love it, Anna.
I squeal and then part of me thinks “oooh nooooo, not another” bag to make because ANNA STOP MAKING SO MANY AWESOME BAGS!!! I am powerless to their appeal! Your use of textures and pattern makes me swoon.
Jast perfect!!!!!!!
This is one of the most professional looking bags that I have seen! It has personality, but looks so classy! Nicely done!!
Fabulous bag, Anna! I just need to gather the hardware and I’m ready to sew!
I am not a bag maker, but this one is so awesome!!! You are such a talented designer – I love seeing what you come up with!!!
I want to join the bag of the month club, but the links are not working! Maybe they are not ipad friendly, will try on my PCI!
Anna, these are beyond amazing. Fantastic design!
I love it I can’t commit to making 6 bags, so I’ll be waiting until July.
Hello Anna – again, such a wonderful bag. I can’t wait to get started on mine. I’ve a question for you – you mention your favorite denim. Can you expand on that and give either the particulars of where you get yours, or what type (weight, etc) the denim is? I would like to start incorporating more denim, twill and linen in my bags (as I usually go with either quilt weight cotton, or a decorator remnant that I picked up). Any feedback you can give would be appreciated.
Hi Liz!
I get my denim at my local Hancock Fabrics, but Robert Kaufman makes a very nice 8 oz. cotton denim in a handful of great colors. π
I’ve been looking for a great messenger bag – looks like I’ve found it! I can’t wait until July. Great job Anna!
Love those color combos! I have been a little scared to try out bags, but it’s definitely on my 2015 bucket list!
Another amazing bag anna!
I don’t believe there is ever a bag of yours that I haven’t liked and your fabric choices are ALWAYS spot on.
awesome. I think I might have to recreate the yellow and gray one you have here… it is awesome!
nice work, as usual π
Can this pattern be purchased outside of the bag of the month club?
I really want to make this bag but didn’t do the club this time.
I just wanted to tell you that I love love love all of your patterns, I wish I could buy all of them right now. lol
I have a bizzilion ideas in my head for bags, totes and wallets, but I can not get them down on paper let alone with fabric.
Keep up the wonderful work.
Julie
I absolutely love this bag and can’t wait to make mine! What fabrics did you use for the main bags in your samples? You always pick out the nicest solid fabrics (which I need more of!)
Thanks Donna! I used a medium-weight denim from my local shop and a cotton/hemp by Pickering Fabrics for the exteriors. π
How about the stripe fabric you used for the lining, can you tell us what you used please? Can’t wait for the pattern to come out in July!!
Hi Liana,
It’s a stripe by Dear Stella called Sunburst Stripe. It comes in tons of great colors! π
Love, love, love y o ur patterns! You never disappoint. Amazing. I want all your patterns! I’d LOVE to test for you sometime! What’s the stripe fabric you used on the inside of the gray/ denim/yellow bag?
I love this bag. It has all the features I want. I was in the process of combining a bunch of patterns to get this a similar look and the features of a flap with a zipper to the main compartment. I just had to join the bag of the month club to get the pattern.
Love all the designs..
When will this be available for purchase dividually?
I love this bag… I hope it will be available individually soon because I plan on making one for my boyfriends birthday…
